Leslie & Josh { happily ever after }

This fall I had the opportunity to be  part of the celebration of Leslie and Josh in sight of family, friends, and God.  Their love for one another and their Lord and Savior shone brightly and tenderly lingers in the hearts of all who were there to witness their union.

Very cool sidenote… after we finished the First Look, the manager of the apartment building next door approached us and offered to let us up on their roof to get these epic photos.  What a blessing!

After a round of photos at the Seattle Public Library, the wedding party headed back to City Church in Belltown to prepare for the ceremony.

Quite possibly the sweetest exit vehicle I’ve ever seen:)

Congratulations, Leslie & Josh!  Thank you for the honor of being able to capture the beginning of a beautiful journey together.  Much love!

Dianne & Lulu

Dianne has represented many things to me over the last 4 years ~ a mentor, coworker, teammate, and my favorite – dear friend.  Her big tender heart led her to adopt a dog several years back from Old Dog Haven, a network that provides placement for senior homeless dogs.  So at the ripe age of 11, Lulu became an integral part of Dianne’s life.  For her birthday this year, I gifted Dianne with a photoshoot for her and her faithful friend.  The bond between the two of them seriously gives me warm fuzzies inside.

The sniff-off:

Dianne, I hope that these photos will fill you with warm memories for years to come~ Happy Birthday and we love you, Lulu.

Pursuit 31 wedding shoot ~ sneak peek!

Words cannot describe how uplifting and incredible an experience it was to attend the Seattle Pursuit 31 retreat last week.  15 women came together to share their lives, fears, struggles, hopes, dreams, and strategies.  We all came with diverse stories and backgrounds, yet felt immediately bonded by our passion for God and photography.  I will expand on this post later, but for now wanted to share a few photos from the mock wedding shoot “Candyland Adventures”, because, well a picture’s worth a thousand words.

The dresses, the umbrellas, the vintage awesomeness, I think my heart just about stopped when I saw who and what we’d be working with.

And then, there’s this insanely gorgeous and sweet couple… I love them so much!

Can you believe how stunning these ladies are?  The second I saw them I knew this was going to be a killer shoot.

Our retreat organizers had an ambitious dream, and they made it come to life down to every colorful and tasty detail.

I absolutely cannot wait to share more from this shoot soon!!  Stay tuned:)

Special thanks to our instructor Karen Stott and all the other wonderful ladies of Pursuit 31, whose combined posing directions and skills contributed to the images here.  And of course, this event wouldn’t have been possible without our truly amazing vendors:

Destiny & Fili { happily ever after }

Our friendship began commiserating over geometry conundrums and a teacher who insisted the learning process was figuring it out ourselves.  It grew over passed notes in the halls of our high school, and whispered conversations in English during Spanish camp week.  My senior year, while my interest in photography was just budding, my Graphics teacher gave us the best assignment yet – produce a portrait portfolio.  I instantly knew who I wanted to photograph – my beautiful friend, math partner, and Spanish partner-in-crime, Destiny.  She made a beautiful portfolio easy.

So a year ago, when I asked Destiny if I could shoot her engagement photos as my gift to her and she accepted, I was happy.

Two weeks later, when Destiny asked me for the honor of shooting her wedding, I was ecstatic.

On August 27, 2011, my photography journey came full circle as I shot my first model in her gorgeous wedding dress on the happiest day of her life.

Special thanks to my second shooter, Karney Li, who helped capture some of the gorgeous images seen here, including the ones above and below!

Fili’s first look says it all.

If you’d like a preview of how big their celebration afterwards would be, take a look at the size of their wedding party:) 12 groomsmen and 12 bridesmaids!

Destiny and Fili celebrated like no other couple by incorporating the marriage of their Mexican and Samoan cultures into a breathtaking series of dance performances.

 The dance floor heated up when Destiny spontaneously jumped in, wedding dress and all, and performed a number with her old dance team.

The bride and groom then engaged in the cultural tradition of the “money dance”, in which guests pay the bride/groom to dance with them.

The first dance was tender and sweet, as Destiny sang softly into Fili’s ear and Fili couldn’t stop smiling if he tried.

I couldn’t resist sharing this side story: About two hours into the epic dance portion of the night, I sat down on the edge of the stage to catch my breath.  Moments later, I felt a little hand on my back.  I turned around and stared into the wide almond eyes of my tiny fan.
As the first strands of the next song picked up, the smile turned into a tiny bop, and seconds later she had me dancing with her.  Needless to say I was reenergized in an instant. =)
Destiny and Fili, you are an incredible and beautiful couple, inside and out.  I wish you every happiness as you embark on this blessed life journey together.  Thank you for the honor of sharing this incredible day with you – it was absolutely unforgettable!

Tom & Lan’s wedding portraits

“So, I don’t really feel comfortable in pictures,”  Tom admitted as he straightened his tie and tugged on his suit jacket.  I smiled and assured him he had absolutely nothing to worry about.  And the minute his beautiful fiancee stepped into the picture, he forgot all about the camera.

Congratulations to the beautiful couple… wishing you a lifetime of happiness & a love that only grows with the years.
